However, we can provide resources and GSA packages. LGBTQ+ student-led clubs and GSAs (Gender and Sexuality Alliances) are leading the work to create safe and LGBTQ-inclusive schools, and student organizers are the nation’s most powerful base for creating change.
In addition to support, some GSAs work on educating themselves and the broader school community about sexual orientation and gender identity issues. GSA Network originally focused on supporting youth in California, and still has its headquarters in Oakland, California, but is now active nationwide.
What is a GSA club? We can provide training for teachers and school supports looking to learn about and start a GSA. These are informal trainings catered to the needs of the school. It has lots of useful information including recommendations for activities, games, discussions, fundraisers and more.
We can provide posters, stickers and resources, as well as a button maker that we can loan to GSAs wanting to create their own designs. The GSA Network Coordinator can visit applicable schools in-person and online to facilitate discussions and run activities.
